Ivy League Preparation 

Duration: 12–36 months (flexible based on student progress and needs)
Target Audience: students (Grades 7–12)


1. Academic Excellence

Objective: Build a competitive academic profile with rigorous preparation.
Modules:

  • Advanced Academic Tutoring (6 months – ongoing):
    • Focus on AP/IB courses or Honors classes.
    • Subject-specific mastery in STEM, Humanities, and Languages.
  • Test Preparation (6 months):
    • SAT/ACT preparation, including practice exams and strategy workshops.
    • TOEFL/IELTS preparation (for international students).
  • Academic Writing Skills (3 months):
    • Essay writing, research paper preparation, and critical thinking exercises.

2. Extracurricular Development

Objective: Build a well-rounded portfolio showcasing leadership and passion.
Modules:

  • Leadership Training (3 months):
    • How to start clubs, lead initiatives, or organize community service projects.
  • Talent Development (6 months – ongoing):
    • Support for sports, arts, music, coding, or other talents.
  • Community Engagement (3 months):
    • Design and execute a community service project that aligns with the student's passions.

3. Application Strategy

Objective: Create standout applications tailored to Ivy League standards.
Modules:

  • College Research and Selection (2 months):
    • Identify "best-fit" Ivy League and top-tier universities based on goals and interests.
  • Personal Branding (3 months):
    • Crafting a compelling personal story.
    • Highlighting unique strengths and achievements.
  • Application Workshop (4 months):
    • Resume building.
    • Brainstorming and writing personal statements and supplemental essays.
    • Guidance on letters of recommendation.

4. Interview and Communication Skills

Objective: Develop confidence and professionalism in interviews.
Modules:

  • Interview Preparation (2 months):
    • Mock interviews with feedback.
    • Training for both video and in-person interviews.
  • Public Speaking (3 months):
    • Speechwriting and delivery techniques.
    • Persuasive communication workshops.

5. Mentorship and Guidance

Objective: Provide one-on-one support to maximize potential.
Modules:

  • Ivy League Mentor Program (ongoing):
    • Access to mentors who are Ivy League alumni.
    • Personalized guidance on navigating the application process.
  • Parental Support Sessions (2 months):
    • Workshops for parents to assist in the college prep journey without undue pressure.

6. Soft Skills and Personal Growth

Objective: Cultivate resilience, adaptability, and self-awareness.
Modules:

  • Time Management and Productivity (2 months):
    • Balancing academics, extracurriculars, and personal time.
  • Growth Mindset and Resilience Training (3 months):
    • Coping with rejection and setbacks.
    • Building confidence and self-motivation.

7. Capstone Project

Objective: Showcase the student’s unique abilities and commitment to a passion.
Module:

  • Portfolio or Research Project (3 months):
    • A significant, student-led project to be highlighted in applications.

Ruby Zhang completed her Bachelor’s degree in Economics, Mathematics, and Statistics at the University of Chicago. She previously worked at the Center for the Economics of Human Development, where she analyzed the long-term health outcomes of early childhood care programs. She also worked at Harvard University where she analyzed the determinants of socioeconomic inequality. She is currently completing her economics Ph.D. at Harvard University.

Nicolas Xuan-Yi Zhang is the Central Bank engagement manager at the MIT Digital Currency Initiative, a collaboration with the Federal Reserve Bank of Boston, which Nicolas joined after his graduate studies and research at MIT in mathematics and computer science. Mathematics and computer science were also Nicolas’ fields in France, where he grew up and did his undergraduate studies (Ecole des Mines de Paris), and also recieved his first Master’s degree (Ecole Normale Superieure de Paris).

Heather Tang graduated with a Bachelor’s in Economics from the Wharton School of the University of Pennsylvania, where she concentrated in Management, Entrepreneurship and Innovation. At Wharton, she was President of the Wharton Undergraduate Consulting Club and Treasurer of the Philomathean Society. Previously, Heather worked at Google leading on-platform COVID-19 response initiatives for Canada. Heather is also a Schwarzman Scholar, class of 2023. She will attend Tsinghua University this fall to complete a fully-funded Master’s degree in Global Affairs.

Jenny (Jingjing) Li completed her Bachelor’s degree in Economics at the University of Chicago. While in college, she interned at investment banking and venture capital firms. Jenny is currently a J.D. candidate at Columbia Law School. She will be pursuing corporate law in New York after graduation this year, dovetailing her finance background and legal training.

Nagisa Tadjfar is a second year PhD student in economics at MIT, with an interest in the intersection of labor, public finance, and health economics. Previously, she worked as an economics researcher at the Becker Friedman Institute for two years, and as an investment banker at Goldman Sachs’ New York office for one year. Nagisa graduated from MIT in 2017 with a double major in Physics and Materials Engineering. During her undergraduate studies, she worked as a trading intern at Goldman Sachs and a consulting intern at Accenture and Oliver Wyman.
